Wendy Edwards is a local sculptor who creates artworks using ceramic and mosaic materials. We designed and printed her business cards to incorporate her signature and a mosaic-like texture that reflected her work. Wendy is known for her fantastic bird sculptures, so the texture is an abstract play on this aspect of her art. We opted for a cool gray 1 tint for the texture, which gave the design more contrast than a blind deboss. The deep impression of the texture gives the negative spaces a pillow-like effect. illustration – french inspired flourish
The latest hand-drawn illustration that I have been working on – inspired by french architectural ornamentation. This may become a new suite for our collection, or I might use it as a variation on a current design – such as Modern elegance.
rebecca & scott – wedding invitations
As promised some photos of the gorgeous invitation suite we printed for a lovely couple from Western Australia. Rebecca had a clear idea of the design she wanted – and it was such a pleasure to create it for her. The three pieces in the suite (invitation, response card and gift card) feature a modern sans serif font, printed in a light grey (PMS cool gray 1) ink. The simplicity of this design really highlights the tactile letterpress impression. Rebecca opted for 600gsm cotton paper for her invitation cards which allowed for a deeper impression and a more sculptural, textural effect. These are absolutely stunning in person. Thanks Rebecca – these were such a joy to design and print!

oak tree illustration
our business cards
We have finished printing and trimming our new business cards and they look fantastic. I wanted to subtly incorporate a natural element into the design to compliment the typography. The blind debossed illustration is of Nothofagus gunnii or deciduous beech which is the only deciduous tree native to Australia and is found only in Tasmania. It represents something of what I love about living in Tasmania. The cards are printed on 600gsm 100% cotton white paper, with the text in black ink.

One of my favourite designs to work on so far has been “Vintage Rose”. The illustration was a labour of love, and the detail in the drawing took hours to complete. I can’t wait to see this printed.
