Custom Maps for Letterpress Wedding Invitations
What better way to direct your guests to your wedding venue than with a letterpress printed map included in your invitation. Custom maps are an additional card included in your invitation set. They normally feature a drawing or illustration of your wedding day locations, along with information to help your guests organise transport and find your venues on the day.
Why include a Map?
Maps look great and always print beautifully and are a gorgeous design addition to your invitation set. Maps are also highly practical and can be the perfect way to help your guests make travel arrangements for your wedding and enjoy the day!
If you are having a wedding held in another country it can be nice to include a map to show your guests where in the world they are heading! Maps for international weddings are normally more general and show details such as the country, location of your ceremony and reception, nearest accommodation and important travel information such as airports and transport routes.
Directions to your Venue
Sometimes your venue can be tricky to describe with written directions, or it may have specific entry areas and parking directions. Some venues require that a map is included in with your invitations. Maps in these circumstances usually include detail such as street names, parking locations, taxi and transport options.
Directions between your Ceremony and Reception
Often weddings are held in two locations, which means your guests will need to travel on the day between the ceremony and reception. It can be helpful to include a map that shows the best travel route between the two. Here it is useful to include street names, walking paths, parking locations and transport options such as taxis and trams.
As well as including the map itself your Custom map can also have written information such as recommended parking locations, accommodation suggestions and any information required by the venue.
Creating your Map Design
To create your custom map design, we just need a little information from you to get started. We will be creating your design from scratch and you don't need to provide artwork for us to use. We just need the relevant information to help us create your design. This can include:
- The venues or general area that you'd like to see on the map
- Any important locations (e.g. 'Ceremony', 'Reception'), including the specific names or wording to use
- Any important features such as roads, streets or landmarks to include
- Any wording for the map, such as headings, transport / parking information and addresses
- Any symbols or keys you'd like to include that can then be referenced elsewhere in the map or on other stationery items
Sometimes it can be helpful to send through links to your venues or an image of the area you are referring to as a starting point for our research. However, this isn't essential and feel free to just email through notes to get us started.
Including a map in your invitation can put your guests at ease and make your wedding day an easy and enjoyable experience for everyone. They are also a lovely design addition and are a great opportunity to add a personal touch to your stationery set.
